The Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society, Inc. (NKPHTS) is one of the oldest railroad historical organizations in the country. The Society was founded in 1966 for the
purpose of obtaining, preserving, and disseminating information and material related to the
New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad Company, commonly known as the Nickel Plate Road (NKP), and its predecessor railroads. Today we are an organization of over 1000 members including authors, historians, photographers, railroad employees and officials, model railroaders, and railfans of all interests. The Society provides each member with a quarterly
magazine and interim newsletters containing
articles, data, and photographs of a historical and technical character. We publish an annual
calendar and numerous other informative
works, hold an annual
convention, and support NKP
preservation projects. Please join us in celebrating the life of a truly great railroad - the Nickel Plate Road.
