ANNOUNCEMENT: The NKPHTS Digital Imaging Program provides for the scanning and electronically preserving of important historical documents relating to the Nickel Plate, its predecessors and affiliates. All material is received and handled in a secure manner and will generally be returned within two weeks of submission.. FOR SALE: [Ad No. icpsummer08-1] These items are from the last production run of THE GOOD EARTH COMPANY, who manufactured a variety of scenery products for modelers in the 1990's. I have assembled a selection of each of the items they offered, which should give most railroad layouts, dioramas and craft projects enough materials to more than cover their needs. Once these are gone, they are gone - these are an exceptional buy for the money and compete with similar products commercially offered at higher prices. Your price is $15.00 plus shipping. Each kit includes: Four (4) 3oz bags of dyed, fine-grade sawdust groundcover in your choice of colors (while they last). Six (6) Hydrocal rock castings in small, medium and large sizes, Six (6) packages of trees (varying sizes and colors - our choice) - at least three trees per package, One (1) bottle of rock dye (while supplies last), One (1) package of dyed weeds (varying colors - our choice while supplies last). Total package weight is under 5 lbs for shipping - we use USPS Priority to your location to ensure prompt and safe delivery. Sample colors include light and dark brown; light and dark green; yellow; "concrete;" desert orange; desert pink; light and dark gray. Trees are in summer or fall colors. Rock dye can be used on wood and plastic models to simulate grime and weathering. Hydrocal will accept both rock dye and water colors (recommend dry brush method) for coloring. Please give your first and second choices when ordering as far as colors are concerned. Attractive graphics with early dark blue NKP logo and tan and brown illustration of hand holding three locomotives with the captions "A Peerless Trio of Daily Express Trains" and "A Peerless Trio of American Admirals", a patriotic theme suitable for framing. This calendar is shown on page 138 in Railroadiana by Charles Klamkin, published by Funk & Wagnalls in 1976. FOR SALE: Allegheny Midland AAR 70-ton, offset-side, 3-bay hopper cars. The Allegheny Midland, or Midland Road, was Tony Koester's excellent coal-hauling model railroad before he decided to model the NYC&StL, or Nickel Plate Road. These AAR 70-ton, offset-side triple hopper cars are from a series of 500 cars numbered 39500-39999, and were built for the AM in early 1948, when the NKP bought a similar series of hopper cars. They lasted into the 1970s on the AM, and a few may still be seen in operation on various model railroads today. This car project utilizes Accurail's 7500-series hopper car, painted black with white lettering. The kit includes Accurail's AAR cast-steel trucks, an Equipco brake wheel, and Accurail couplers. It also features brake system components with piping and levers, slope-sheet end braces, fine stirrup steps, interior details, and hidden weights.Four car numbers are available: 39587, 39624, 39639 and 39763. This group acquired three ex-Nickel Plate 10-6 Pullmans from Southwest Railroad Car Parts after Illinois Central retired them in 1970. Are the cars still in existence?
