Donations for NKP GP 30 #901 Restoration Needed

Nickel Plate Road GP-30 #901 is alive and well, and currently residing anonymously in the Cincinnati, Ohio area as Indiana and Ohio Railroad #85. (The locomotive is owned by the Cincinnati Railway Company and is currently in the I&O paint scheme). The owners of the 901 have agreed to have it restored to full Nickel Plate colors and lettering, including the green cab interior and reactivation of the gyralite. The locomotive is in very good condition, and still has the bell in the notch in the short hood. When restored, the unit will be used to haul passenger excursions around Cincinnati and Southern Indiana. It may actually pull some revenue freight duty from time to time if borrowed by the I&O. This is a unique opportunity to have an actual NKP locomotive back in the original paint scheme, regularly pulling trains and showing the 21st Century public just how sharp a railroad the Nickel Plate Road was.

We need your donations to make this possible.

The Cincinnati Railway Company (CRC) has set up the "901 Fund" with their bank to receive donations and to disburse the funds for the restoration. The CRC has also generously donated some incredible prizes to be given away by a drawing to be held for each of the two higher donation levels. The drawings and prizes will be awarded as follows:

Donations of $901.00 and up will be eligible to win a double bedroom accommodation on a private rail car excursion with the Cincinnati Railway Company; a $3,000.00 value.
Donations of $450.00 and up will be eligible to win a roomette accommodation on a private rail car excursion with the Cincinnati Railway Company; a $1,500.00 value. Additionally, all those who donate at the $450.00 and up level will be given a cab ride in the restored NKP #901 (by special appointment).
All donations of $9.01 and up will receive a "901 Club" pin, a free ticket for a trip on the Lebanon Mason and Monroe Railroad and an invitation to the restoration celebration excursion upon completion of the project (date to be announced by mail to all donors). This excursion will be a trip through some beautiful scenic areas in Warren County, Ohio out of Lebanon on the former Cincinnati Lebanon and Northern line (part of the original "Little Giant" narrow gauge network).

And that is not all: The Cincinnati Railway Company has agreed to donate all funds received in excess of the actual costs of the restoration of the 901 project to the McCaleb-Rehor Fund of the Nickel Plate Road Historical and Technical Society. (Note: The 901 Fund is not an NKPHTS sponsored project, however the society will assist with information to support the historical accuracy of the restoration).
