Photographs Contibuted by Martin Moorefield
The first seven pictures are of Nickel Plate Road class S2 #763 in Roanoke. These were taken during the Roanoke East End shops open house on September 8, 2007. The Ohio Central had just recently moved her from the VMT to the shops to prepare her for her trip to the Morgan Run Shops. The OC re-equipped her headlamp, Mars Light, number boards, number plate, and bell for the occasion. Three of the pictures are of the 763 moving out of the VMT yard. Originally, NS was going to move out everything from behind her and then 763 separately to Shaffers Crossing. At the last minute, they decided to move her and everything else from behind her all at once. Behind 763 was, Celanese Corps Fireless porter #1, Chesapeake Western T6 #10, Southern EMD B unit #103, Norfolk and Western mail storage car #1418(sister to 1407 which was N&W 611s crew car), Blue Ridge Stone Plymouth, Seaboard System SW-7 #2289, RF&P Boxcar #2305, and finally Southern Railway Pullman "Lake Pearl" #2422.The other photos are of NKP GP9 #532 and Bay Window Caboose #470 at the Virginia Museum of Transportation and the Berkshire #765 at the FWRHS.
