The NKPHTS was founded to preserve the history of the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad Company, commonly known as the Nickel Plate Road (NKP). The Society is one of the oldest railroad historical organizations in the country.

Today we are an organization of over 800 members including authors, historians, photographers, railroad employees and officials, model railroaders, and railfans of all interests.

We provide each member with the quarterly Nickel Plate Road Magazine and two online newsletters: the Nickel Plate Road Modeler's Notebook and the monthly NKPHTS E-List Newsletter. We publish an annual calendar, hold an annual convention, and support NKP preservation projects.

Please join us in celebrating the life of a truly great railroad - the Nickel Plate Road.
